The $8.5 million indie film "Sight" tells the story of a poor Chinese immigrant's success story — and producers have high hopes for the opening Memorial Day weekend.

An independent film company is set to launch an $8.5 million movie about Nashville eye surgeon Dr. Ming Wang nationwide May 24.

Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese immigrant who overcame staggering obstacles to become one of the most renowned eye surgeons in the United States, says his faith has given him a passion for caring for the "least of these."

"The biggest impact of being a Christian over the last many decades is it makes me humble, recognizing that we, as human beings, are ultimately limited. We have to be willing to ask God for help," Dr. Wang told The Christian Post.

After surgery, Dr. Ming Wang lifted one finger and asked Maria Morari how many he was holding up. Maria, who had been blind, replied, "Unu"—Romanian for "one." 

Blind since she could remember, 15-year-old Maria Morari had traveled over 5,000 miles from Moldova in Eastern Europe to Nashville, Tennessee, in hopes of having her vision restored by world-renowned laser eye surgeon Dr. Ming Wang.
